"I'll be back", no wait, I already am!

Time for a short update seen as the blogroll has been rather lifeless for the past few days. My latest and greatest (subject to personal taste and preference) project: Terminators!

I have decided, in one of my many efforts to fund my war effort against boredom and all things dull, that I will give some pro-painting a go. Well, I've done 'pro-painting' plenty of times before, just never on a commercial basis. I have purchased a small squad of 5 Space Marine Terminators and have begun to paint them in the classic Ultramatine style, upsidedown omega and all!

Here's a little teaser:

As an added extra I have Updated the blog with some new whats-it-a-ma-jigs, including a slideshow (LOOK AT RIGHT -->)

and a counter so I can keep track of how many people pass by.

Warhound Titan - Part 4

I love the smell of titan in the morning!

That's right, he's finished! Not bad for about 2 days fiddling around. I choose the plasma blastgun and turbo laser in the end after taking a recommendation from a good friend. All I have left to do now is order my Plasticard and get cracking on the real deal!

Just one small note: The matchsticks on the back of the legs are purely for support purposes only as the cradboard can not take its own weight so these prevent it toppling backwards.

Warhound Titan - Part 3

'He's a bit "arse" heavy'

The torso is now finished! It didn't take too long, the shapes are all large and fairly basic especially as there is no detailing on the mock-up. The head took some extra work, it being the most detail part of the model.

The assembled hull! The final model will most likely incorporate magnets to allow easy transportation of the separate parts (i.e: legs, body, guns, head, etc):

Now the upper body is complete all I need to do now is pick my weapons and mount them in the shoulders :)

Well, that and modifying the legs a wee bit to stop him falling on his behind all the time!

Warhound Titan - Part 2

Tape! Tape! I need more tape!

Well today has seen some decent progress. The second limb went up without a hitch and a lot quicker too! I have the progress shots now too which will help when it comes back to the actual making stages.

Well thats the progress so far. I'm fairly pleased with the pace and finish so far. I think I'll crack on with the head next so that I can pop it straight on when the torso is done :)

Warhound Titan - Part 1

Matchsticks, cardboard and sellotape!

That's all you need to start a Warhound titan. Or at least a mock up in preparation for a full custom build! Well, that and some plans.

I found those on From the Warp (ftw) and decided seen as some friends have been getting me back into my old modelling, I'd give the epic task of scratch building a titan a go! I began one way way way back before I gave up Warhammer and never got past the toes really. I had no plans or measurements to base anything off so I ended up producing some rather oddly proportioned feet and decided to give it up. So, logically, when I saw these plans, I practically jumped at the chance to finish what I began.

I decided the Warhound would be the most suitable start. Out of all the three plans, it is the most basic and is the smallest so will save me monies when I come to purchasing theplasticard for the real deal!

Note; the plans for the Reaver and Warhound are done to a great standard and by the same guy from the looks of it with the plans for the Warlord being less clear with no 3D drawings for reference. 

I decided I would begin with the feet and build up. As it is just going to be a mock up where its main use will be as a reference for dimensions the overall finish is of no aesthetic importance. I printed of the plans for the first foot onto white card and began cutting. It wasn't long before I'd completed the first foot forgetting to take photos so heres the finished foot:

Next I had to construct some cylinders. Again I used some white card and after some simple math and a printout from word, I had three leg joints!

The final task was to add in the match sticks. These represent the locations of the pistons that would be detailing the final job as well as acting as physical supports for the mock up.

And here is the final leg. It currently stands just under 20cm (8" approx') tall making it the tallest warhammer model I have ever made. I will hopefully get the second leg done tomorrow and possibly the waist too!

Well, hello there!

Hi there and welcome to my first blog!

Right, first things first...

This blog is just going to be a running log book essentially of my many projects and pieces of work. This will mainly be art work which will largely be in paint or pencil. I also plan to include my more engineering(-y) projects including my design technology coursework but there will be more on that later.

For now just sit back and I'll try to get something interesting out there as soon as I can!
